5 Things to Do Before Selling Your Home

Waterfront picture in Washington, NC

1. Have a Place to Move To!

The quickest way to sell your home is to not have another to move to. Murphy’s Law comes into play more times than not.

2. Depersonalize

Remove all personal pictures and items. Buyers need to picture themselves living in the home, having your pictures and memories can prevent this. This step also helps with packing.

3. Repair/Paint

After removing your personal wall hangings it is time to repair any holes in the walls and paint with a fresh coat of a neutral color. This is also the time to do or have done any items that need repair on the property.

4. Clean! Clean! Clean!

This can be a difficult step while you are still living in your home. The two rooms to concentrate on are the bathrooms and kitchens. Keeping the home spotless is key.

5. Boost Curb Appeal

First impressions count. Paint the front door, weed the gardens, plant flowers, and clear away the dirt/cobwebs. While your home is for sale it is important to make sure the lawn is maintained. Many buyers will drive by before deciding to look inside.
